The deafening silence of a city that welcomes the coffin of a child, little Francesco, just three years old, crushed and killed by a beam while playing in the large green lung of Moderata Durant, more than two months later, still makes a noise throughout the city.
The little boy, who was operated on urgently by the Jazzolino team of surgeons and anesthetists and transferred to Bambin Gesù in Rome, died three days later, leaving an unbridgeable void. Well, after that enormous tragedy which led to the closure of the urban park, a real green lung on the outskirts of the city, while awaiting the results of the investigations launched by the Flying Squad of Vibo Valentia, coordinated personally by the public prosecutor Camillo Falvo, the first administrative measures arrive.
Management resolution no. 2869 of 12 November, bears the signature of the engineer Lorena Callisti and those pen strokes appear as a first unequivocal fixed point. The Municipality, in fact, sanctions the conclusion of every type of relationship with the company, director of works and Rup (single person responsible for the procedure). All those responsible for carrying out the work are relieved of their duties.
The company “Millennium” Srl (in collaboration with Promocost) is accused of a serious breach. However, the duties of the director of the works, the architect Giuseppe Di Leo and the sole person responsible for the procedure, the engineer Onofrio Maragò, were revoked due to “serious irregularities and deficiencies” in the exercise of the functions that had been assigned to them.
