The delivery of plastic material collected in the city area by Sieco has been brought back to normality. The citizens probably did not notice anything, but indeed on their heads for some time the specter of a crisis hovered that could have led to the failure to collect plastic due to problems related to the disposal plants.
The definitive solution with the identification of a suitable system, after a mess that occurred in the past months, arrived during a recent meeting between the top management of Palazzo De Nobili and Arrical, the regional water and waste authority. The problem had come to the surface, and was given an account of it in these columns, during a meeting in the Hygiene and Environment commission, when a group of councilors, upon input from the councilor Antonio Corsihad cI asked for clarification on the methods with which a structure was identified, in the Lamezzo area, for the delivery of plastic material: since it is an overall small plant, according to reports, it would have had some difficulty in the long run in managing the amount of material collected in the regional capital; furthermore he would also have complained about the poor “quality” of the material provided, in terms of adequate differentiation.
Faced with the risk of blocking the delivery, with a consequent emergency for the city, Palazzo De Nobili found a buffer solution by having the material transported to the Siderno plant, in Reggino. Obviously with significant transport costs: in fact, it is one thing to bring waste to the Lamezia area, and another to get to Locride. So in the meeting at the Municipality, thanks also to the good offices of Arrical, the relationship has been re-established with the company that manages another plant in Lamezia Terme, where Sieco delivered waste before the change that occurred in recent months.
