The State Police arrested a man resident in the mountain town, found in possession of illegally possessed weapons and ammunition. The operation began on the morning of November 24, during checks aimed at combating arms trafficking, conducted by the Vibo Valentia flying squad together with agents from the Serra San Bruno police station.
The discovery
During a personal search and in some land owned by him, the agents found weapons hidden in country houses: a 12 gauge Beretta rifle, which was found stolen, a 22 caliber rocket launcher without serial number, as well as numerous ammunition.
Overall, 411 rifle cartridges and 132 pistol cartridges of various calibers were seized, along with sheaths and materials for cleaning the weapons.
The accusations
At the end of the investigations, coordinated by the Vibo Valentia Prosecutor’s Office, the man was arrested on charges of illegal possession of weapons, receiving stolen goods and illegal possession of ammunition.
