The CSA-Cisal expresses its deep satisfaction with the start of work for the construction of the new bus stop and shelters at the Regional Citadel of Catanzaro, an intervention awaited by hundreds of employees and commuters.
The territorial manager Gianluca Tedesco underlines how this result is the result of months of reports, requests and constant comparison with the regional offices.

The critical situation exploded on 19 December 2023, when the movement of public transport within the Citadel was ordered to stop. From that moment, the workers had been forced to stop on a simple stretch of pavement, without protections and signs, in a point that interfered with internal traffic, generating confusion and potential dangers.

Since the first months of 2024, the CSA-Cisal has monitored the situation, reiterating several times the need to provide the area with a safe and adequately equipped stop.
The start of the construction site confirms that trade union action, when constant and concrete, can transform daily problems into tangible solutions.

THE ADMINISTRATIVE PATH THAT LED TO THE START OF THE WORKS

The intervention was defined through Executive Decree no. 8928 of 20 June 2025, which approved the technical and economic feasibility project, for a total amount of €186,159.23.

Subsequently, with Executive Decree no. 11859 of 11 August 2025, the Region awarded the direct negotiation on the MEPA, committing the resources and establishing the amount of the works at €135,500.00 plus VAT, for a total of €185,860.89.

«Today – declares Tedesco – we can finally say that a battle of civilization has achieved its objective. Regional employees will have a safe and functional stop, an elementary right that we have repeatedly requested with determination.»

Special thanks are addressed to the Councilor of the Economics and Finance Department, Dr. Marcello Minenna, for the sensitivity and availability demonstrated, and to the Manager of the Real Estate Asset Management and Enhancement Sector, Dr. Ernesto Forte, for the collaboration and professionalism ensured throughout the process.

THE IMPORTANCE OF TRADE UNION PRESENCE AND FUTURE PROSPECTS

The result confirms the importance of attentive and present trade union oversight.
The CSA-Cisal will continue to work on the other critical issues of the Citadel: from security to the parking lots – where there is no shortage of incidents of theft, the last one recorded on November 13th – up to the internal services, which need to be improved and monitored through adequate and continuous maintenance.
In various Departments, and more generally within the structure of the regional Citadel, there are management and maintenance inefficiencies, with services that are not always fully functional or adequate to the standards that a modern administrative center should guarantee.
The union will therefore continue to maintain high attention, asking for timely, planned and decisive interventions, so that the Citadel can operate with levels of efficiency and quality that meet the needs of workers and citizens.

«This story demonstrates that, when critical issues are addressed seriously, the voice of workers cannot be ignored. We will continue to be a point of reference for those who enter the Cittadella every day and demand dignified working conditions. We will not take a step back when faced with situations that deserve urgent interventions and concrete solutions”, points out Tedesco.

«Workers are our strength. Their reports are essential to build a safer, more orderly and respectful environment”, concludes the union leader, reiterating that only loyal collaboration between administration and representatives can truly improve the daily lives of those who work in the Citadel.
When administration and unions dialogue with clarity and responsibility – concludes Tedesco – the results arrive and bring benefits to the entire regional community.
