Music on Wednesdays in Stromboli, in the Aeolian Islands, is prohibited and the private party organized yesterday evening to celebrate the end of the filming of “Three Incestuous Sisters” – during which the cast and crew were also celebrating the birthday of British actor Josh O’Connor – was interrupted by the arrival of the police, who intervened to enforce the union ordinance. Mick Jagger also attended the evening.
So the party organized in a club on the island with the actors and crew of the film directed by director Alice Rohrwacher was abruptly stopped. At the party, in addition to the founder and frontman of the Rolling Stones – who plays the part of the guardian in the film – and the director, there were also actors Dakota Johnson, Saoirse Ronan, Jessie Buckley and Isabella Rossellini.
The interruption created perplexity, mixed with hilarity, but, albeit reluctantly, it was respected. The “indicted” music was played from a small speaker and at a volume considered acceptable by some witnesses. The crew left the island today by public transport, while Jagger left by private helicopter.
The president of the Pro Loco Amo Stromboli, Rosa Oliva, intervened to condemn the incident:
«It is yet another sign – he states – of a territory which, instead of being valued and supported after a winter of serious shortages and abandonment, finds itself penalized even in its moments of aggregation and visibility. An island of international importance like ours deserves adequate administrative management, capable of preventing problems and bringing local realities into dialogue, rather than being reduced to late or punitive interventions.”
«From the mayor of Lipari, Riccardo Gullo – he adds – one would have expected a welcome to the guests, or at least a greeting and thanks for the decisive contribution to the economy of the Aeolian Islands and to their visibility. We live off tourism on our islands.”
