A fight over money. This would have been the fuse that ignited the argument between Melissa Echevarria and the Tunisian heard in recent days in prison, by the Flying Squad investigators as part of the investigation into the death of the 40-year-old of Argentine origins found lifeless in the courtyard of an uninhabited house in via La Farina on the eve of Ferragosto. A reconstruction that arises from the declarations made by a 22-year-old Tunisian, in prison for other events.
The investigators traced the young man through some testimonies collected immediately after the discovery of the body and the footage from the video surveillance cameras in the area. He would be the last to see the woman. Initially he was heard as a person informed of the facts, then given the direction his story took, he was stopped and asked for the interrogation to take place in the presence of a defender. He told the investigators, in the presence of an interpreter and the lawyer Giuseppe Ciminata, that he had gone with the woman to the courtyard of the uninhabited building and, at a certain point, he realized that he was missing some money that he knew he had in his pocket. Hence the argument with the woman who he allegedly grabbed by the neck but then immediately pulled away as he had no intention of killing her. He was probably still breathing when he left. The episode would have occurred approximately 4-5 days before the discovery of the woman’s lifeless body, found on 14 August after a report to 112.
