Over 4,300 products withdrawn from the market because they did not meet the safety requirements required by law. It is the balance of an intervention carried out by the financiers of the Provincial Command of Vibo Valentia within a commercial business in the area, as part of the controls dedicated to the protection of the market and consumer safety.
The blitz and the irregularities found
During the inspection, the Fiamme Gialle identified and subjected to administrative seizure 4,335 items, including toys intended for children and household utensils. The goods were found not to comply with current regulations on consumer information: in fact, essential information on characteristics, origin and correct methods of safe use were missing.
Following the findings of the administrative violations, the products were immediately removed from the shelves, while the envisaged sanctions were imposed against the owner of the commercial activity.
Consumer protection and fair competition
The operation takes on primary importance especially due to the presence of toys, products for which transparency and compliance with safety standards are fundamental to protect children’s health.
Alongside the prevention of risks for citizens, the action of the Financial Police aims to protect the legal economy. Those who place non-compliant products on the market reduce costs to the detriment of safety, creating direct economic damage to honest businesses and shopkeepers who operate in compliance with the rules.
The Provincial Command has announced that targeted controls in the area will continue in the coming days to combat the sale of irregular goods and ensure healthy competition on the market.
