There are hours of anxiety in Torre Faro for a diver who went missing after diving on the beach of Via Palazzo, in front of the former Primeria. The man, apparently a Navy soldier, dived in the late morning or early afternoon and appears to have been alone. It seems that he was using a “scooter” of the kind that allows you to move quickly in water. The searches, under the coordination of the coast guard commander Pischedda, are currently being carried out by two patrol boats and a team on land. The alarm was raised by some friends. Experts point out that in the late morning the speed of the current in that stretch of sea goes beyond 4 knots on these tidal days and then reaches speeds of almost 6 knots. There is therefore a risk that the man – if taken ill – was dragged by the current very far from the point of entry into the water. In front of the former Primeria, among other things, there is a ship wreck, that of the Bowesfield, about 40 meters deep, very popular with divers especially for photos and videos. The man appears to have been equipped with oxygen tanks.
