The terms were opened last October 15th and the deadline to participate in the tender is set at 6pm on December 16th. But the new public notice launched by the regional Citadel for the support of audiovisual productions is already at the center of controversy: the accusation, essentially, is that of favoring, by providing public funds, a sort of “colonization” of Calabria also with regards to cultural products.
At stake this time is a treasure of 5.9 million euros which “large companies” and SMEs in the film sector can aspire to as support for the creation of audiovisual productions which include among their objectives «the promotion of the territory, the valorisation of the natural and artistic heritage, the development of local tourism and the valorisation of cultural, landscape and environmental resources». Furthermore, the notice issued in recent days by the Economic Development and Cultural Attractors department aims to «promote the historical, cultural, religious, economic and social heritage, as well as the popular and anthropological traditions of Calabria».
