Progress on differentiated autonomy. The Unified State-Regions-Local Autonomies Conference expressed a favorable opinion on the preliminary agreement schemes between the central government and the Liguria, Lombardy, Piedmont and Veneto Regions on the subject of “health protection – coordination of public finance”. All six regions led by the center-left (Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Umbria, Sardinia, Puglia and Campania) voted unanimously against it.
Calabria, represented in the Conference of the Regions by Roberto Occhiuto, has aligned itself with the rest of the realities led by centre-right presidents. However, during the preliminary discussion, the Calabrian governor invoked some “guarantees” for those structurally (and historically) weaker realities. In particular, Occhiuto asked that, at the time of the pre-agreement, a contextual commitment to foresee an exit path from the Recovery Plan (after that announced on several occasions by the commissioner), characterized by certain times, and which takes into account the specificities of the Regions, with particular reference to the economic-financial balance, as well as, in relation to the guarantee of the Lep, the improved results achieved in the last two years and the sufficiency already achieved in several macro-areas.
