One of the key charges in the ordinary “All in 2” trial needs to be explored and re-evaluated: the operation of the anti-mafia prosecutor’s office with which one of the recent hard blows was dealt to the ‘ndrine of Gallico in conflict for the conquest of leadership in the territory of the populous and ancient hamlet north of the city. The judges of the fifth section of the Supreme Court of Cassation, accepting the appeal of the lawyers Pasquale Foti and Cosimo Albanese, annulled with postponement the sentence – 12 years of imprisonment for the crime of mafia association – against Sergio Iannò, one of the first level defendants in the investigation.

In November 2025, the Reggio Court of Appeal confirmed the first degree verdict against him, recognizing Gallico’s responsibility and role in the mafia dynamics, accepting the accusatory theory supported by the investigation team coordinated by the anti-mafia prosecutor Sara Amerio and conducted in the field by the carabinieri.

Sergio Iannò had been accused and convicted of being part of the Rugolino criminal gang, a historic soul of the ‘Ndrangheta that operates between Catona and Gallico. The “All in 2” proceeding was started as an investigative sequence of the trial defined for the murder of Giuseppe Canale, killed in Gallico on 12 August 2011 when the killers hired by the local clans, traveling from the Vibonese area, left no escape for the designated target: all the defendants were sentenced to 30 years in prison.
