Yellow in Malta for the discovery of the lifeless bodies of the well-known DJ Ryan Spiteri, 47 years old, and a 41 year old woman, found late yesterday evening inside a car parked in front of a garage in a residential street in Marsascala, a seaside town in the south of the island.
Who are the victims
The police, called by the neighbors around 9pm, only revealed the names of the victims this morning: he, a famous face of local clubbing and former voice of Vibe FM and ONE Radio – a station close to the Labor party – she presumably his new partner. Magistrate Monica Borg Galea opened an investigation into the case and ordered autopsies.
The investigations
The police have announced that at the moment they are trying to exclude the involvement of third parties, focusing attention on the last hours of Spiteri’s life. The publication of the names this morning in local media sent shockwaves through the country.
The last hours
The DJ was the protagonist of the after-party of the celebration for the Madonna del Carmine on Monday evening. On Instagram he had published a video of himself unleashed. A few hours before the tragedy, he had posted a video on Facebook in which, referring to past mistakes, he apologized to anyone he may have hurt, leaving a message.
Judicial precedents
The story is intertwined with the recent judicial precedents of the deejay, who ended up in court last March accused of domestic violence against his ex-partner. The proceedings were dropped last May, after the woman asked in court for the trial to be interrupted.
The condolence
Fans, colleagues and the world of the historic Maltese musical bands have expressed pain and dismay at the tragic and sudden end of the popular artist, while the police investigations continue to shed definitive light on the matter.
