The wave motion is strongly intensifying along the Ionian coast of Calabria and the situation in the Lido district of Catanzaro is causing concern. In the last few hours – as the Municipality of Catanzaro announced on its social media profiles a few hours ago – the sea has reached, and in some places exceeded, the level of the seafront, making the area particularly exposed and potentially dangerous, especially during the night hours.
The authorities recommend maximum caution. Citizens are asked to avoid going to the seafront and coastal areas, to stay in safe places away from the sea, piers and cliffs and not to stop near the waves, avoiding risky behavior such as getting close to take photos or record videos.
The situation is constantly monitored in coordination with the Civil Protection, the local police and the Municipality of Catanzaro, ready to intervene in the event of a further worsening of weather and sea conditions.
