In the month of January alone, the State Police of Reggio Calabria issued and proposed twenty-six personal prevention measures and applied two special public safety surveillances to socially dangerous people.
Prevention measures constitute an important tool in order to attack manifestations of social danger and to redevelop areas of the territory, increasing citizens’ perception of safety.
In this context, last January, the State Police:
– a “Daspo” provision was imposed for illegal conduct in the sports field for a period of one year;
– issued nine “oral warnings”, one of which with further requirements, ordering all interested parties to conduct themselves in compliance with the law;
– imposed two “mandatory expulsion orders” by the Municipality of Reggio Calabria, with a ban on returning for a period of four years, in respect of the same number of subjects resident in Sicily, who in the previous year had been arrested for a robbery against a jewelery shop in the city centre;
– issued nine “warning” measures against as many subjects who committed persecution and domestic violence;
– proposed to the local Court – section. Prevention Measures, five proposals for the application of special public security surveillance with mandatory residence, towards as many subjects, bearers of generic and qualified social dangerousness, the latter with particular reference to people considered organic in associative contexts for the perpetration of crimes relating to drugs and violent conduct expressed in the relational/emotional context.
In the same period of time the local Court section. Prevention Measures has issued two special PS surveillance decrees, with an obligation to stay, lasting two years each, towards as many subjects, highlighted in violent dynamics in the family context, accepting the relevant proposal previously formulated by the Reggio Calabria Police Headquarters.
The measures adopted and proposed represent the result of the synergistic and constant action of intensifying the territorial control services launched both in the capital and in the province, paying particular attention and sensitivity to the prevention activity towards vulnerable victims.
