Dominique Bernarda French professor aged around fifty killed this morning by the attacker of Chechen origins Mohammed Mogouchkovattempted to interpose himself between the attacker and some potential victims in the Arras school courtyard.

President Emmanuel Macron praised the gesture which “saved lives”. In particular, from the videos shot during the episode, the professor – married to an English teacher, three daughters still students – appears as he stands between the attacker and other people, in particular a school canteen employee, who is later injured. However, Bernard himself, hit with a knife in the carotid artery, was killed in front of his students. This year, he was a seventh grader.
