The Court of Appeal of Messina has ordered ten convictions, some with reduced sentences, in the appeal process of the “Scipione” anti-drug operation, conducted by the District Directorate of Messina, on drug trafficking between Calabria and Messina. For five the sentences were redetermined while for another five the sentences were confirmed. The sentence was redetermined for Saint Clare at 8 years old, Stellario Brigandì at 11 years and 8 months, Salvatore Favasuli 8 years and 8 months, Giovanni Morabito 8 years, Stefano Marchese 1 year and 2 months and two thousand euro fine. Confirm for Giuseppe Selvaggio, Costantino Favasuli, Fortunato Calabrò Angelo Albarino And Giovanni Bonanno. The trial comes from a postponement by the Supreme Court which had annulled the previous sentence by ordering a new trial. The «Scipione» operation, which resulted in the blitz of March 2020 with 19 arrests, is an investigation by the Carabinieri of the Messina Provincial Command. Interceptions and stakeouts revealed a group that was supplied by Calabrians with home deliveries, on a weekly basis, of loads of cocaine and marijuana transported in the false bottoms of cars and destined for drug dealing squares. The carabinieri also discovered one of the drug hideouts, under the sand, on the coast of Africo Nuovo.
