Everything is ready for the US attack on Cuba, all that is missing is Trump’s approval

The Pentagon is ready to launch an attack or invade Cuba, and is awaiting Donald Trump’s final order. Provided that he matures because, with the war in Iran still having an uncertain conclusion, the tycoon would currently be more inclined to favor the implosion of the Castro regime, possibly in the summer, rather than opening another war front.

The US military device in the Caribbean

The Department of Defense has spent months positioning the troops and weapons necessary for the United States to proceed manu militari against the Caribbean island: what is needed is the final green light from The Donald, who hypothesized the invasion after economic and political pressure failed to overthrow the communist government, Politico reported.

Strengthening the presence of the Navy in the region, the largest in the world outside the Middle East, would allow the US to take immediate action on a type of operation ranging from the capture of the Cuban leadership on the Venezuela model to a series of precision attacks against well-defined infrastructures.

The American administration finds itself having to decide under tight deadlines. Many of the ships deployed, in fact, are about to reach ten months at sea, more than the usual six or seven. This is causing concern among defense officials, who fear the attrition of crews and the additional pressure on the Navy, which is currently also involved in the blockade in the Arabian Gulf.

The strategy of “accelerationism”

The US president, however, would prefer a peaceful transition towards a free Cuba, continuing to impose draconian economic sanctions to try to strangle the Havana regime with a slow and progressive squeeze, between oil and basic necessities. “The best way to describe it is ‘accelerationism,’” noted an administration official quoted by Axios, referring to the philosophy that seeks to lead to the collapse of society. «But we don’t want to eliminate the regime yet. There is a method, we proceed in phases”, added the official, anonymously.

China’s support for Cuba

Meanwhile, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi assured in the talks held in New York with his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla Beijing’s full support for its historic Caribbean ally in combating the “politics of power and arrogance”. Dragon promised to donate 60,000 tonnes of rice to help the island address shortages, with the first shipment arriving on Sunday.

“China will continue to defend justice and be the spokesperson for Cuba’s demands, to support the just cause of the Cuban people and to contribute to the development of Cuba’s economy and the improvement of the living conditions of its population,” said Wang, in the Chinese diplomacy report.

Washington’s moves after Maduro’s capture

The Trump administration cut off oil supplies to Cuba from Venezuela, an ally of Havana, after the capture of Nicolas Maduro. Washington stepped up the pressure last week by indicting former President Raul Castro for the 1996 shooting down of two US civilian planes, fueling fears that the US is looking for a pretext to overthrow the Havana government.
