The works for the purifier of the municipality of Furnari have been concluded and are now in the testing phasein the province of Messina. The process of adapting the urban wastewater purification plant located in the Bazzia district, in the municipality of Furnari, has thus been concluded. Also in this case, the works carried out by the Commissioner’s Office for purification, whose sole commissioner is Professor Fabio Fatuzzowere aimed at overcoming the infringement procedure 2004/2034 for failure to comply with Article 4 of Directive 91/271/EEC.
“The interventions planned and carried out with the purifier – says the sole Commissioner for purification Fabio Fatuzzo – have made the plant’s performance fully efficient for the purpose of carrying out a purification procedure in compliance with the legal limits, both for emissions at the exhaust, in the Tyrrhenian Sea, and for odors. But an even more important detail – he adds – is that the adaptation works carried out have allowed to increase the potential of the plant to cope with future demographic growth and fully respond to the increase in the summer population”.
“It is therefore a work – says engineer Giuseppe Iannazzo, sole project manager – that will allow all the inhabitants of the area, after years of waiting, better conditions also from the point of view of bathing and tourist exploitation of the entire coastline, with the splendid beaches of Furnari and Tonnarella, true jewels of the Tyrrhenian coast of Messina”. The total cost of the intervention was €4,458,495.20 and the company that carried out the works was “Alak Srl” of Brolo (Messina).
