After the numerous requests formulated by the “InMovimento” civic committee, organized among others by the former mayor, lawyer Renato Bellofiorethe mayor of Gioia Tauro, Simona Scarcellaformally expresses the willingness of the entire municipal administration to adhere to the strong request of the territory to bring high speed to the Gioia Tauro railway hub.
«The municipal administration – declares Scarcella – can only fully adhere to the more than legitimate requests formulated by the movement led by the former mayor Renato Bellofiore, who has been fighting for years now for high speed to find asylum at our railway station. We have carefully considered all the political interventions that have been initiated in recent times. I must say, with amazement I took note of the statements of the representative of the independent movement “Pino Rauti” of Rosarno, Rocco Dominici, which supports the existence of logistical reasons that should make the Rosarno station preferable to that of Gioia Tauro as a privileged location for the arrival of high speed trains. A thesis that obviously cannot be supported for purely technical and non-parochial reasons.”
