The mayor of Reggio Calabria Giuseppe Falcomatà wished the city a happy new year on the occasion of the usual New Year’s dive on the Lungomare Italo Falcomatà. “The New Year’s Eve dive is now a consolidated and strongly identifying tradition for Reggio Calabria. An event, dedicated to the memory of Mimì Fortugno, which the people of Reggio await to usher in the new year in the best possible way. It is nice to see how participation is constantly growing: even those who were initially skeptical in past editions are here with us today. It is proof that positive traditions know how to contaminate the community”. The Councilor for Programming Carmelo Romeo and the Managing Director Giovanni Latella also took part in the event, which reached its 53rd edition this year.
“My hope for 2026 – said the mayor – is that the determination in pursuing one’s personal and work objectives is also reflected in the commitment to the community. Citizens must not be spectators, but protagonists of change, since resilience and the desire to fight are in the DNA of our history. In addition to the wish for health and serenity – concluded Falcomatà – I hope that the common commitment will never fail: the city grows and improves only if each of us does our part. And This is the best wish the city can make for itself.”
