First take in Calabria last November 4th, for I won’t leave you alonethe new film by Fabrizio Cattani (Maternity Blues, Chronicle of a Passion), based on the novel of the same name by Gianluca Antoni published by Salani and winner of numerous literary awards.
The film, produced by Gianluca Curti, Emanuele Nespeca, Elisabetta Olmi and Tilde Corsi, will boast the direction of photography by David Di Donatello Fabio Olmi (The trade of weapons, Basilicata coast to coast), the editing by Paola Freddi (Another End, Iddu ) and the soundtrack by the well-known contemporary composer Luca D’Alberto (The Alphabet of Peter Greenway, The Choice); it will be an exciting and passionate film, capable of playing on the edge of different genres: like a modern fairy tale, the story will unfold in a pressing and unexpected way, coloring what seems like a classic coming-of-age with the fascinating colors of noir.
The filming of Io non ti lascio solo will take place for 4 weeks in Calabria between Camigliatello Silano and the municipalities of Spezzano, Celico, San Giovani in Fiore, Rende, Castrolibero and Cosenza. The production is by Minerva Pictures, Solaria Film, Ipotesi Cinema and RC Produzione, with the support of the Calabria Film Commission Foundation. The crew includes 35 Calabrian units out of 50 that make up the team that has been shooting the film for a few days.
I Don’t Leave You Alone will tell the story of Filo and Rullo, two inseparable friends who leave secretly to look for Birillo, the dog lost by Filo’s father. Their friendship is strong and deep, and nothing can stop them, not even the fear of the dark or the gruff mountain man Guelfo Tabacci, who seems to be involved in the dog’s disappearance. But behind this apparent reality lie unexpected events, which will force the boys to face trials far greater than themselves.
Alongside the two protagonist boys, played by Andrea Matrone and Michael D’Arma in their first film test, we will find a first-rate cast made up of the well-known actor and director Giorgio Pasotti, the Ubu winner Mimmo Borrelli and Valentina Cervi, a talented Italian actress who divides his career between Italian and international projects.
