The discovery of a mouse, apparently from a passenger’s meal, forced a SAS airliner to land for an impromptu stop. A spokesperson for the airline reported, specifying that the unusual episode occurred on Wednesday on the route between Oslo and Malaga, when the stowaway was discovered on board, forcing the plane to interrupt the flight to land in Copenhagen.
“According to our procedures, there was a switch of aircraft for an inspection” of the plane, explained Oystein Schmidt, spokesman for SAS in Norway. “This is something that happens extremely rarely,” he assured.
The incident did not seem to dampen the passengers’ good mood. “Believe it or not. A lady next to me opened her food and a mouse jumped out,” wrote passenger Jarle Borrestad on his Facebook page, with a photo showing him all smiles next to two other women, also visibly happy. The passengers were transported to Malaga on another flight.
“We have established procedures for such situations, which also include a review with our suppliers to ensure this does not happen again,” Schmidt said.
