The cape tidy of the Aeolian DOP islands enters For the first time in McDonald’s menus. The company will buy over 370 kg.
A commitment “in making the quality and authenticity of the Italian ingredients accessible to everyone, enriching its recipes with the treasures of our land”, reads a note.
«The cape of the Aeolian Islands DOP represents taste and quality that have always distinguished our country. An ingredient so small but large in the flavor, a typical gem of these islands », comments Giorgia Favaro, managing director of McDonald’s Italy. “Inaugurating this collaboration with the Capevera Association of the Aeolian DOP islands is a source of great pride for us, because it allows us to strengthen our commitment in the enhancement of the DOP and PGI ingredients and the Italian agri -food supply chain”.
According to Lorenzo Cortese, president of the Association, this collaboration “It represents a precious opportunity to make a product with peculiar organoleptic qualities accessible to the national market, daughters of a plurinsular territory characterized by volcanic substrates and Mediterranean microclimate”. And he adds: “Today the cape of the Aeolian DOP islands is expertly worked with collection and conservation techniques which, albeit handed down for centuries, are entrusted to the hands and the curious gaze of young entrepreneurs in the sector and historical family companies, which represent an important portion of the Aeolian agri -food sector. The Association I chair, shows great satisfaction for the current partnership, hoping for future collaborations ».
