It will be a different interview than usual tomorrow, Thursday 6 November, in the Romano Tassone room of the department. of Law at 5.30 pm which will see Don Bruno Bignami, director of the CEI Office for social problems and work, present the volume he signed “Giving a soul to politics”.
Mcl, Christian Workers Movement, organized this moment to put the theme of political participation and commitment of Catholics back at the centre, starting from the text by Don Bruno Bignami, passionate about the themes of politics and democracy, scholar of the history of our country, postulator of the cause of beatification of Don Primo Mazzolari.
The University of Messina will host the meeting moderated by Elisa Furnari, president of the Bene Foundation, during which Don Bruno will be interviewed by some young people involved in social work and institutions but also by representatives of Catholic Action, Forum of Family Associations, Ucid Cisl.
Prof. introduced the works. Giuseppe Bottaro, professor of History of Political Doctrine which precedes the contributions of Gaetano Lamberto, provincial president of MCL Messina and Don Sergio Siracusano, director of the diocesan office for social problems and work. Concluding was Alfonso Luzzi, national president of the Christian Workers Movement.
A central theme is that of participation in community life in the face of an ever-growing disaffection which in the South affects young people even more. In his book the author examines the relationship between Christianity and the common good and reflects on the commitment of believers to “public affairs”. There is a need to bridge the abysmal gap between politics and ordinary life, as confirmed by the high abstention rate that is now recorded at every election.
