Messina, Center-Right and Center-Left are dealing with resignations and the need to… “choose quickly”

Not everything will be resolved in the space of a few days, even if the will of the leaders of the Center-Right (national, regional and local) and of the Center-Left parties is to respond to the acceleration given by De Luca and Basile in the shortest time possible. And the only way to do it, beyond the good intentions and the (inevitable) programmatic convergences to be sought at the Roman, Palermo and Messina tables, is to propose as soon as possible the name of who will face Federico Basile and the other possible candidates for the union. The choice of name is decisive, everything else follows closely.
The secretaries and coordinators of Fratelli d’Italia, Forza Italia and Lega know this well. At the moment, despite the superficial declarations and slogans about coalition unity, there does not seem to be any convergence on a single candidacy proposal. That the lawyer Marcello Scurria is in the running, the man most liked by the undersecretary Matilde Siracusano, has never been a mystery. That the League, as suggested by Senator Nino Germanà, is not enthusiastic about this possible choice, is also a well-known fact. And it is quite certain that Fratelli d’Italia, the prime minister’s party (in difficulty in Messina, however, after the legal events involving, at a regional level, the local FdI leader Elvira Amata), wants to have a particular impact on Messina. Then, we have to deal with the other components that will sit at the table, from Beppe Picciolo (who returned to play an important role in Messina politics, after having been assigned the role of president of the IACP) to the component that continues to report to Francantonio and Luigi Genovese, from Cuffaro to Lombardo.
