The urban redevelopment plan between the Maritime Station and Viale Gazzi is accelerating, which will completely change the face of an anonymous territory but with enormous potential. Palazzo Zanca, which on this front has entered into an agreement with RFI for the valorisation of a vast area, has reached a fundamental stage.
The Territorial and Urban Services department, specifically the person responsible for the Administration procedure, Antonio Martella, asked the regional Territorial and Environment department to activate the procedure for verifying eligibility for Vas, the Strategic Environmental Assessment, for the purposes of acquiring the provision for excluding the project from the Vas procedure. This “with the aim of identifying the possible significant environmental impacts on the environment resulting from the implementation of the Plan” (and thus speeding up the process). A plan that “does not even partially fall within protected areas”. The integrated project – an integral part of the development of Piau, the innovative urban program “Ports and stations” – is accompanied by the updating of the urban planning procedure. The area of intervention concerns the eastern coastal strip of the city of the Strait between the historic port and the Gazzi district, with a sea front of 3.8 km, for a maximum depth of 600 meters and a total of 1,361,370 square metres.
