The municipal councilor of Messina, Libero Gioveni (Fratelli d’Italia), presented a question to request answers regarding the failure to conclude the recovery works of the arch of Christ the king.
The monument, subject of interventions starting from October 2021 due to structural saggingremained covered by a protective network without the work ever really started. After an initial contract and subsequent renunciation of the company in charge, everything was unchanged, leaving a historical symbol of the city in a condition of visual degradation.
Gioveni asks the municipal administration for the reasons for this immobility and if there is a concrete plan for the recovery of the monument, as well as a clear timing for the start of the works. The intervention, in addition to being necessary for safety, is essential for the decoration of a central and tourist area of the city.
