The first degree trial for the “The Family” anti-drug operation concluded with 17 convictions and 3 acquittalson a network of shop in Fondo Fucile discovered by an investigation by the Messina Mobile team taken last February. They were acquitted Giovanni Coppolino, Sonia Longo And Domenico Allia. The prosecution had sought sentences ranging from a maximum of 20 years to a minimum of two years in prison. The lawyers Salvatore Silvestro, Tino Celi, Ignazio and Cinzia Panebianco, Tommaso Autru Ryolo, Gaetano Pino, Antonio Giacobello, Giuseppe Donato, Giuseppe Bonavita and Pietro Venuti were involved in the defense.

The Flying Squad blitz had led to thearrest of 26 people, half in prison and half under house arrest. The investigations revealed that in Fondo Fucile there was a family-based group that ran a drug dealing ring, particularly cocaine. Part of the investigations also dealt with events not related to drugs, some were related to the carrying out of swabs for Covid.
