The soldiers of the Carabinieri Forestry Unit of Rossano together with their colleagues from the Castrovillari Unit and with the support of the soldiers of the local Carabinieri Station carried out a urgent preventive seizure decree aimed at confiscation issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Castrovillari, directed by Alessandro D’Alessio. The seizure, validated by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations, concerns two lands in the locality of Fiumarella in the municipality of Crosia on which there are respectively four and two semi-detached buildings. The structures, largely still under construction, were seized because carried out in violation of urban planning regulations. From the investigations of the Carabinieri Unit of Rossano, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Castrovillari, it has in fact emerged, on a level of probability and without prejudice to subsequent investigations and checks, that the housing titles were granted, qualifying the land as “tourist expansion” rather than “agricultural destination”. In this way, the land subject to the seizure was classified in an illegitimate manner, thus allowing the construction of a much larger volume than that actually agreed to.
For these reasons, and by virtue of a radical distortion of the natural structure of the territory, the Judicial Authority hypothesized, as had already happened in the month of September with a previous seizure also confirmed by the review judge of the Court of Cosenza, the crime of “illegal development” as well as the probable existence of crimes against the Public Administration. Following this, the twelve residential units were seized and nine people were referred, such as the executing companies, the designers, construction managers and municipal technicians in the urban planning sector, who in various capacities will have to answer for urban planning violation, abuse of office and collusion. The value of the seized works is assumed to be no less than 1,500,000 euros
All suspects, given the current state of the proceedings, will be able to assert their version which will be carefully subjected to verification.
