Extortion on the works of two churches in Briatico, in the Vibonese area, not only on the company that collects waste, but also on the one that takes care of public lighting, on a company involved in the public works of a roundabout and on another that he was carrying out renovation works in a villa inhabited by a priest. This is what was revealed in the courtroom by the justice collaborator, Antonio Accorinti, during the deposition before the Court of Vibo Valentia in the maxi-trial born from the anti-mafia operations Maestrale-Carthago, Olimpo and Imperium.
Also in the sights of the ‘ndrangheta – which allegedly exercised suffocating control of the territory – the management of the patronal festival of the Madonna del Carmine in Briatico and the concert of a rapper in the town where the organization of the events (from the stage to the generator, up to the service for music) would have been curated by the Fiarè clan of San Gregorio d’Ippona (Vv), specially called by the Accorinti clan of Briatico. Finally, the clan also targeted the management of school canteens in Briatico during the council of former mayor Andrea Niglia, whose administration was subsequently dissolved in 2018 due to mafia infiltration.
