“Oikos” operation: the Supreme Court annuls the order of the Reggio Calabria review court for Marco Venuti and Abdelalì Hamdani. Both are accused of participating in an association aimed at drug trafficking, as well as various crimes, and had been subjected to a precautionary custody order in prison in July 2025. The review court had confirmed the order issued by the investigating judge and the suspects appealed against this provision to the Court of Cassation through their lawyers, lawyers Vincenzina Leone and Pierluigi Sacchetti of the Bar of Reggio Calabria.
The sentence
The third section of the Supreme Court of Cassation accepted the appeals, annulling the order of the review court which had confirmed the one issued by the investigating judge, with postponement for a new trial.
With reference to Venuti’s position, the review order was entirely annulled, with which his precautionary custody in prison was confirmed and the existence of serious indications of guilt for participation in the association aimed at drug trafficking and multiple episodes of buying and selling drugs.
Also with reference to the position of Hamdani Abdelalì, the Court accepted the defense arguments, annulling the review order relating to the charge of the crime of association.
A new review will therefore have to be carried out for the positions of the two suspects.
