An illness while he was on the seashore: despite the help there was nothing that could be done for a 56-year-old from Paola. This is Pompeo Paschetta who years ago was president of Geki Paola, the men’s volleyball team which had reached Serie B with a splendid ride. The man was near a beach when he fell ill (there is talk of a cardiac arrest) which left him with no escape.
The first life-saving maneuvers were carried out by some people present near the seaside resort, then a 118 ambulance from Paola hospital arrived on site and the air ambulance was also alerted. But all timely rescue efforts were in vain for the 56-year-old.
