Moments of tension occurred at around 12.30pm on Saturday in Sangineto, when a misrepresented and armed individual entered a pharmacy. The same man, after gaining access, immediately headed towards the counter and, threatening an employee with a knife, took possession of the cash sum of €110 contained in the cash register. The employee also tried to block the man who however managed to escape by pushing him and continuing to threaten him with the weapon.
However, the 38-year-old had not considered that he was present a few meters away from the pharmacyand a carabiniere off duty who, noticing him running out of the building with the knife still in his hand, chased him on foot. At that point the man initially tried to get rid of the knife by throwing it during the chase and subsequently, after climbing over a gate, entered the garden of a summer house.
In the meantime, the Carabinieri of the Cittadella del Capo station, alerted to what was happening, immediately moved to the area. The soldiers and the Carabiniere in plain clothes therefore surrounded the entire building and identified the perpetrator of the robbery hidden in a hedge.
The latter was immobilized and subjected to a personal search: Hidden in the briefs, the €110 proceeds from the robbery were found and returned to the owner of the pharmacy.. After a careful reconnaissance of the area and the escape route of the subject who had just been blocked, the weapon used in the criminal event was also recovered, a switchblade with a 9 cm blade and, inside his car, the Carabinieri they found and seized a further hunting knife with a blade length of 14 cm and also 0.5 grams of cocaine, which is why the subject was also reported to the competent Prefecture for possession of narcotics for personal use.
The entire dynamics of the robbery was also captured by the video surveillance cameras promptly analyzed by the Carabinieri. At the end of the activities, the arrested person was transferred to the Paola prison at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
