“It would be nice and useful to organize the General States of Recovery in the spring in Messina. A public initiative to take overall stock of the good things achieved in recent years, including the projects carried out by the municipal administration; the activity already carried out by Arisme and the effective action that the government's extraordinary commissioner for recovery, Marcello Scurria, is carrying on. Furthermore, it could be a moment of discussion on the broader meaning of recovery.” This is the proposal of the Forza Italia municipal councilor, Cosimo Oteritogether with the Messina party.
“Giving the right to a home to many people from Messina was and is, finally, an epochal fact – adds the political exponent – but designing new social policies capable of truly restoring dignity of life to many people and families, in my opinion, represents the moral subsequent act”. Oteri then recalls the topic the continuous and excellent work carried out by the undersecretary of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Matilde Siracusano.
“The Honorable Siracusano – he highlights – managed to obtain from the national government a further extension to the sub-commissioning until 31 December 2025 (a rule originally approved thanks to his political initiative and the former minister Mara Carfagna) by extending the deadline of the second extension, scheduled for 31 December 2023. What has been achieved is not a given. I am convinced that these other two years will give the extraordinary commissioner the opportunity to operate as effectively as he is doing.” In particular, the Forza Italia councilor appreciates what has been done by Marcello Scurria“who, evaluating case by case, together with the ASP of Messina, has given priority in the rankings for new housing to fragile and very fragile subjects, in fact at the moment 500 people, or 100 families have left the barracks”.
The renovation – adds Cosimo Oteri – has not only a residential value, but also a social one. Being able to engage with all the institutions, with experts and open a public debate is more necessary than ever.” Also on this aspect, the city councilor and the citizen coordination of Forza Italia “they are against the creation of a 'ghetto neighborhood' in the Taormina district, as is intended in Fondo Fucile. For the reasons we have illustrated – the note concludes – we are against this hypothesis and will go against all others of the same type. Respect for people and families, children and young people who need to integrate as much as possible into the social and educational context of the city requires other solutions”.
