The record season goes through a downward spiral. The boom in passengers which brought the Tito Minniti transit station to almost one million has come to a halt. In fact, February data compared to the same month of 2025 recorded a -21.4% increase with 63,524 passengers. And in a general context that must have declining aviation data there can be. Other strategic airports also suffered a decline. But if the minus sign appears increasingly for the fourth consecutive month then the alarm bells begin to worry. If in 2025 the Reggio airport had climbed onto the national podium of the three airports that recorded the best performances, now the slowdown has come.
The decline for the “Tito Minniti” airport began in November when -12% was recorded, it was hoped that December could reverse the trend, but a modest -6.9% arrived, and then January which returned to -12%. And now with February it expands, recording the “worst” report card of the Calabrian ports, with Lamezia recording -5.6% and Crotone which instead continues to improve with +19.2%. An average that sees the Calabrian airport system overall “holding up” with a +3.8%.
