The airport you don’t expect. An airport that has been in agony for years (while looking to the next few months with confidence), but still considered to be of a high standard by travellers. Enormous potential for the “Tito Minniti”, a center of gravity also for that Sicilian user that is aimed at recovering, but little exploited. Sacal itself certifies this by providing the total data for 2022 relating to movements in the airport terminal: «In 2022, the Tito Minniti airport in Reggio Calabria totaled 202,386 passengers, with an increase of 37% compared to the previous year, and a number of flights equal to 4,150, including landings and take-offs, with an increase in scheduled flights of 58% more than in 2021. Scheduled traffic was exclusively national and had the Rome and Milan Linate airports as its main routes».
The estimates for 2023 seem to confirm the growth projections, but what stands out when reading what Sacal herself writes, later taken up by Enac, is that Passengers liked the airport’s services. «With regards to the performances recorded in the year 2022, the results obtained allow us to state that the quality of the services at Reggio Calabria airport generally stands at medium-high values, with some exceptions. The satisfaction expressed by passengers in 2022, with percentages almost always between 75% and 100%, confirms that the perceived quality is in many cases adequate. The opinions on the security aspects and on the counter/gate services are very good, with percentages of satisfied users above 90%. Unsatisfactory results were found for the efficiency of the passenger transfer systems (there is only one lift) and the air conditioning systems.
