The Local Police of Reggio Calabria carried out a series of targeted checks in recent days which led to the seizure of a swimming pool built illegally in the southern area of the city, within a condominium area. The structure, completely completed, had been built without any authorization, in violation of current urban planning regulations. The agents, together with the municipal technicians, checked the state of the places and ascertained the absence of permits, therefore proceeding with the seizure of the artefact. At the end of the investigations, four individuals were identified and held responsible, in various capacities, as owners and clients of the work.
The four were reported for the alleged violation of the provisions of the Consolidated Building Act (Presidential Decree 380/2001). The findings of the inspection activity have also been transmitted to the competent administrative offices, which will now be able to proceed with issuing the envisaged measures, including a possible order for the demolition of the illegal structure. Also yesterday, the Local Police also reported a citizen who, a few days earlier, had abandoned a disused refrigerator on the central Via Roma.
The man, domiciled in the Arghillà area, was reported to the judicial authority for illegal waste disposal. In application of the recent legislative changes that came into force last October, additional sanctions were also imposed against him: withdrawal of his driving licence, with suspension of one to four months, and seizure of the car used to transport bulky waste. It should be noted that, as these proceedings are still in the preliminary investigation phase, the presumption of innocence applies to all suspects until a possible final sentence. Finally, the Local Police reiterated that the control services to protect the territory and urban decorum will continue unabated in the coming days.
