From confiscated assets the response with which to deal with the housing emergency. Palazzo San Giorgio asks the Confiscated Assets Agency to acquire six new structures from the organisation’s unavailable assets. After the services conference convened in July by the National Agency for Confiscated Assets, the Municipality adopted the documents (a council resolution approved unanimously), in which it initiated the procedures to respond to the expression of interest regarding six properties located in different neighborhoods of the city: Sant’Elia di Ravagnese, Archi, Croce Valanidi, Trunca and via Cantaffio.
A necessary operation in light of the dramatic situation of public residential construction which to date has provided few responses to those who experience the difficulty of not being able to afford a decent home. All this while illegal occupations continue to remain a phenomenon observed almost with resignation and combated with less incisive tools. Moreover, the Council resolution itself recognizes «that the matter of the city’s housing needs has been the subject of various technical tables activated by the Prefecture, tables which have seen the involvement of the Municipality, Aterp Calabria as well as the trade union associations most representative of the needs ». Precisely in light of what has emerged and developed in the institutional contexts “the Municipality intends to implement the agreements made by operating actively”.
