Movable and immovable assets worth one million euros were confiscated by the State Police from a 62-year-old entrepreneur from Reggio Calabria, Domenico Bruno, accused of belonging to the Libri gang and already involved in the investigation called “Malefix”, dating back to 2020 and conducted by the Reggio Calabria DDA, in which he was accused of mafia-style criminal association. Also contested was an attempted extortion carried out against a consumables manager in order to favor the company that performed cleaning services at the Grand Metropolitan Hospital of Reggio Calabria.

The confiscation was ordered, at the request of the Public Prosecutor, Giovanni Bombardieri and the Deputy Prosecutor, Stefano Musolino, by the Prevention Measures section of the Court of Reggio Calabria, which confirmed the seizure carried out in 2021 at the conclusion of the investigations, directed by the police commissioner Bruno Megale, from which the inequality between what the entrepreneur declared to the tax authorities and his real financial assets had emerged.

Domenico Bruno, who carries out his entrepreneurial activity in the sector of trade to the ingrosso of furnishings for offices and shops, had been arrested by the Flying Squad of Reggio Calabria, as part of the same «Malefix» investigation, on charges of having been in relations, in particular, with Antonio Libri, considered the current regent of the ‘Ndrangheta gang of the same name . According to the prosecution, the entrepreneur, by virtue of his alleged membership of the Libri gang, was able to accumulate a large amount of capital which he reinvested in the purchase of properties. The assets confiscated from Bruno consist of 12 pieces of land, three properties, an individual business and two financial reports in the name of the entrepreneur’s wife and daughter. Furthermore, the Court ordered the measure of special surveillance against Bruno, with the obligation to reside for four years in the municipality of residence.
