With the book of their heart under their arm and the enthusiasm of those who want to share stories and emotions, girls and boys from the Emozioniamoci school network will meet on Wednesday 20 May and Tuesday 26 May at the Museo del Presente in Rende to inaugurate the first edition of the Maggio dei Libri “Read to read”.

The review was born from the in-depth study on shared reading aloud and emotions carried out by the network together with ANDE Cosenza, an experience that put the book at the center as a driver of new perspectives, knowledge and civic sense. A path that today translates into a unitary project in which young people become active protagonists and words are transformed into tools of growth and awareness.

Two thematic days

The appointments will be divided into two focuses: “Recognizing yourself in emotions” for the first day and “Growing free, thinking with your own head” for the second. The program includes moments of reading aloud and discussion, where reading becomes a shared experience and an opportunity for participation, capable of creating community and opening spaces for active citizenship.

A “cloud” of young and very young people, from primary school to high school, will animate the museum spaces with books to show, phrases to read and emotions to share. Students will meet authors, poets and writers, dialogue with them and discuss texts and ideas in the presence of teachers, school managers and institutional representatives.

A network for reading

The event is promoted by the Emozioniamoci Network and by ANDE Cosenza, with the patronage of the Municipality of Rende and the participation of the President of the Province Biagio Faragalli. The network brings together schools committed to promoting conscious citizenship through reading, book heritage and the valorisation of cultural heritage and landscape.

For the first time, the network participates in the May of Books, a national campaign born in 2011, which every year, thanks to the collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, involves Italian schools, Italian Cultural Institutes, embassies and consulates, making reading an inclusive and shared experience.
