As the last midnight of 2023 approaches, many people are stocking up on fireworks to celebrate the arrival of the new year. It is with this in mind that the provincial command of police of Vibo Valentia, in order to make New Year’s celebrations safe, launched a targeted control campaign which has already produced the first results. In particular the soldiers of the Carabinieri station Nicoterasuspicious of an unusual coming and going of people who went to a sporting goods shop, deciding to gain access without, however, finding any apparent anomalies in the first moments. In this regard, only the perseverance of the operators would soon have made it possible to understand how the owner of the shop, a 36-year-old local, evidently aware of the impossibility of marketing high-potential pyrotechnic material, had opted for the trunk of his car as a place of safe and unsuspected concealment. In fact, once the police had identified and opened the vehicle parked in the immediate vicinity of the shop, they found themselves faced with over 75 kg of firecrackers, detained without any authorization. The dangerous explosive material was entirely seized and the 36-year-old reported to the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office of Vibo Valentia.
