On the evening of 9 September 2023, the Carabinieri of the Sellia Marina station (CZ), during a territorial control service aimed at repressing the phenomenon of drug dealing, a 22-year-old and a 20-year-old from Isola di Capo Rizzuto arrested in flagrante delicto, caught in possession of 3.2 kg of cocaine, divided into three blocks of approximately 1 kg each. The Carabinieri soldiers, carrying out a road traffic control post along the SS106, decided to stop the car with the two islanders on board.
The Carabinieri immediately noticed a suspicious and particularly nervous attitude on the part of the two occupants of the car, therefore they decided to proceed with a careful inspection of the vehicle. In the car, three blocks of cocaine weighing a total of 3.2 kg were found, hidden inside a bag placed under the passenger seat.
In consideration of the large quantity of substance held, which would have allowed a profit in retail sales amounting to a sum between 260 and 300 thousand eurosthe two young people were declared under arrest for possession for the purpose of dealing drugs.
The arrested persons, taken to the premises of the Sellia Marina Company for the formalities, were subsequently associated with the Catanzaro Siano prison awaiting the validation hearing, as ordered by the Judicial Authority.
