In an affidavit, an anonymous eyewitness claims he did not see Alex Pretti with a gun before he was shot by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (**ICE**) agents in Minneapolis.

According to the document cited by the Guardian and published by the NGO American Immigration Council, the witness who recorded the video of the shooting says that Pretti was trying to help a woman who was pushed to the ground when he was grabbed by other ICE agents.

The testimony

“I didn’t see him with a gun. They threw him to the ground and started shooting at him”, reports the witness, contradicting the official version according to which Pretti, 37, approached the officers armed with a gun before the fatal intervention.

The episode sparked widespread debate and protests in the city, with criticism of the management of the security operation and the transparency of the federal authorities involved.
