The Gutenberg Calabria Association was awarded the Special Mention awarded to the XXII Project Gutenberg as part of the “Il Maggio dei Libri 2025” Award, promoted by the Center for Books and Reading. The ceremony took place in Rome, at the Palazzo dei Congressi – La Nuvola, during the Più Libri Più Liberi fair, one of the most important cultural events on the national scene. The recipients of the award, awarded among over 600 candidate initiatives and 11 finalists, were Armando Vitale, president of the Gutenberg Association, and Rosetta Falbo, coordinator of Gutenberg Ragazzi. The official motivation underlines the educational and cultural significance of the project: “It promotes the importance of books and reading among young people. It encourages the creation of a community of readers who become multipliers of the ability to read and encourages fruitful exchange with authors by activating the circulation of ideas, the development of taste in reading and the formation of a critical spirit.”

A prestigious recognition that rewards over twenty years of commitment shared with the network of Calabrian schools, teachers, students, authors and all the partners who have contributed to the growth of Project Gutenberg. Meanwhile, the countdown towards the XXIII edition of Project Gutenberg has officially started, which will take place from 18 to 23 May 2026, and will be dedicated to the theme “Disasters and new worlds”. An intense and complex path – supported by the municipal administration of Catanzaro – which will involve schools throughout Calabria in meetings with authors, workshops, discussions and initiatives aimed at spreading and strengthening the culture of reading throughout the territory.
The Gutenberg Association renews its commitment to schools, young people and books, thanking the Center for Books and Reading for the recognition which enhances the national dimension assumed by the project.
