On Friday 31 October at 8pm at the Hotel Villa Fabiano in Rende (CS), the Rotary Club of Rende will host Domenico Iannacone, one of the most authoritative journalists on the Italian scene, as a guest. It will deal with the topic: Ethics and Journalism. Introduced by Franco Laratta, Director of LaC TV. During the evening the Rotary Club Rende will present Iannacone with a Special Commendation for Lifetime Achievement. The event is open to all.

Iannacone has been defined by critics as a journalist with a human face who looks to the soul.

With its journalistic investigations, Rai recounts with an unprecedented and dazzling approach – without judgement, rhetoric, pietism or ideologies – the pain, violence, oppression or human weaknesses of those who suffer, transforming its journalistic investigations into an intimate space of reflection and denunciation, capable of photographing the hopes and frustrations of the entire nation.

He was a great friend of Andrea Camilleri who he considered his foster father.

An example of excellence and service journalism. “The most extraordinary stories are those that pass by us without us realizing it. They are often so small that we have to go and look for them among the many things that are worthless”, says Domenico Iannacone.

Creator and presenter of the Rai investigative programs “The ten commandments” and “What am I doing here”, one of RaiTre’s most followed in-depth programmes.

Iannacone has won the Ilaria Alpi Prize five times, the most important Italian prize awarded to investigative journalism.

In 2015 he won the Paolo Borsellino Award and in 2017 the Goffredo Parise Award.

With the documentary film “Far from Eyes” he received prestigious international recognition, winning the Civis Media Prize in Berlin, the Real Screen Awards in Los Angeles and the Peace Jam Jury Awards in Montecarlo.

In 2018 he won the Spello Film Festival with “We are all mad”, a shocking tale of madness. In 2019 the Centro Sperimentale di Cinema-Scuola di Cinematografia awarded him an honorary diploma in Audiovisual Reportage. In 2021 he was awarded the Kapuściński Prize and in the same year the documentary film “The Odyssey” was awarded at the 14th edition of the Moige Prize. In 2022 he won the Premiolino, one of the oldest and most authoritative awards dedicated to journalism.

In 2023 he won the Baffo Rosso Award, named in memory of Roberto Morrione, unforgettable Rai journalist, founder and first director of Rai News.

In 2024 he received the Franco Cuomo Award in the Senate, dedicated to the journalist, writer and playwright who passed away in 2007.

The President of the Rende Rotary Club, Sergio Mazzuca, invites citizens of the urban area to participate in large numbers in the event.
