San Filippo Superiore It has always had a water supply from local water resources, scenturies-old orchards that in the mid-1800s sent around 1000 fountains of water to support the city aqueduct (about 30 l/s). Over time, things have changed: consider that until 2018, these sources easily guaranteed a 24-hour supply to the village for 12 months a year, with support also for the Santissima pipeline in the San Giovannello area. In the years that followed, things got worse and worse: the anomalous situation was reported by Messina City Councilor Giuseppe Villari of the League.
“Summer problems at the beginning, reduction of the hours of supply for the Cicirello district (San Filippo cemetery area), while still maintaining support for the management of the Santissima. AYear after year, less and less water, even before there was talk of drought. In recent years the springs have been left to their fate: abandonment. Today, after two seasons of little rain, a curious story is happening in the village: some people have water in the tap for 6 or 7 hours a day, while others don’t even get a drop. (often the distance between those who have water and those who don’t is just a few meters). Since July I have been asking AMAM to check the system and find solutions so that the supply is homogeneous, but to date nothing has happened. The situation has become exasperating and the exasperated residents no longer know what to do. Obviously, in addition to reporting to AMAM, I have submitted the problem to Councilor Minutoli who is responsible for civil protection. It should be noted that many homes in the village are located in places where the COC vehicles cannot provide support”.
