On the occasion of the World Environment Day, the project ended “Semper 3-together-for life on earth”a wide -ranging didactic and scientific initiative that involved 10 schools in the Messina and Sicilian territory, with the active participation of 309 students and 19 teachers, accompanied in a training course in the name of sustainability, knowledge of the territory and ecological transition.
The project, focused on the theme “We read the territory: water and the territory_Ambiente, biodiversity and natural phenomena”had its final moment in the presence of school leaders, teachers, pupils, institutional and academic representatives. In the room, the multimedia products made by students were projected, works of high scientific and technical value, while the artifacts resulting from the laboratory activities were exhibited in a thematic exhibition, symbol of an alternative, experiential and interdisciplinary teaching.
The territory at the center of teaching
The places under study were the north and south coastal areas of the Municipality of Messina, territorially contiguous areas but with deeply different environmental characteristics. The field activities made use of the scientific support of the laboratories of the Chibafaram Department of the University of Messina. The entire training course took place during the school year 2024/2025 and provided for refresher courses for the programmed teachers and meetings, aimed at accompanying students in the course of education to sustainable development, in line with the objectives of the UN Agenda 2030. The activities took place in the classroom, in the workshops and directly on the field, with an experimental approach based on scientific evidence.
A network of schools and institutions
The project was conceived and promoted by the president of Anisn Messina, Prof.ssa Sunday Lucchesiwith the support of the organizational committee composed of the vice president prof. Antonino Rinoneby Prof.ssa Maria Portanomeby Prof.ssa Cetty Calabrò and by prof. Mario Di Fazio. The technical-scientific part has been curated by experts from Anisn from the academic and school world. The route was sponsored by the Municipality of Messina, the metropolitan city of Messina and created with the collaboration of Arpa Sicilia, represented by Anna Scalia.
The municipal councilor for youth policies are also present at the final event Liana Cannatathe manager of the metropolitan city that deals with natural reserves Maria Letizia Molino and the president of the Ammi Messina Francesca De Domenico.
