2024 opens in Crotone with a world champion: Fabrizio Ruggiero who, in the Council Chamber this morning, was awarded the Solemn Commendation, the honor provided for by the Municipal Regulation of Civic Merit.

A heartfelt ceremony attended by the mayor Vincenzo Voce and the Sports Councilor Luca Bossi family and friends of the Crotone champion took part and wanted to dedicate the merit to them, as well as to the city of Crotone.

A recognition for what he has done during his sporting career but also for his sense of belonging to the city.

In fact, the parchment given to Fabrizio by the mayor reads: “Solemn Commendation for the conquest of the Kickboxing world title and for the series of sporting successes, including the Italian title and the European title, which confirm the recognized professionalism and technique of the athlete who throughout his career has always demonstrated affection, a sense of belonging and love towards the city”.

“It’s a joy to have you here with us, we are proud, the whole Crotone community is proud of you. I also thank you for always carrying with you, inside and outside the ring, your love for our city” said Mayor Voce in his greeting address.

Councilor Bossi highlighted the reasons that led the administration to the recognition: “from today you are ambassador of the city of Crotone. You are an example for many young people because you combine undisputed talent with humility and transmit the real values ​​that sport expresses”

The councilor also focused on theaction that the administration is carrying out for sports facilities precisely to encourage the practice of many sports and at the same time help young talents grow: from the sports citadel that is rising in Tufolo to the Coni swimming pool which will be redeveloped.

Proud of the world champion crown that he brought with him but also of the honor received, Fabrizio Ruggiero thanked the mayor, the councilor and the municipal administration for the recognition.

“My first thought after the world championship match was for Crotone. The city deserves a world stage. I will continue to work hard and ensure that many young people approach this sport. A sport where technique is important but which also teaches you to have respect for your opponent” said Fabrizio Ruggiero.
