“The European Night of Researchers is an important opportunity to promote research, innovation and development of our territories. It is an event promoted by the European Commission to bring citizens closer to the world of research and make them aware of its relevance in our society. I am really proud that this year too the Calabrian universities have joined the initiative and have become protagonists of this project, in line with European objectives”. He states this in a note Giusi Princi, FI – EPP MEP.
“Participation in initiatives like this – continues Princi – not only strengthens the dialogue between science and civil society but also contributes to raising public awareness of the importance of research as a driver of economic and social development. As a member of the Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) of the European Parliament – adds the MEP -, I am firmly convinced that collaboration between European institutions and the local academic world is fundamental to ensuring that university offerings are competitivewhich can stem the ‘brain drain’ and promote innovative excellence ‘Made in Italy’ and ‘Made in Europe’. In committee I will actively support European programs such as Horizon Europe, which fund research and innovation in all member countries. I will continue to work – continues Princi – so that the universities of Southern Italy can access these funds with ever greater effectiveness, strengthening their ability to participate in international projects and therefore their attractiveness for students from all over Italy and all over the world”.
“I am convinced – highlights the MEP – that, with the support of the European institutions, Calabrian universities will be able to consolidate their role of excellence in the research panorama, creating a lasting impact on the local community and contributing to the sustainable development of the territory. My hope is that the European Night of Researchers will be a success and can inspire more and more young people to approach the world of science, research and innovation. Only through a shared vision between institutions, universities and citizens – concludes Princi – can we build a future characterized by knowledge, progress and unity in diversity, founding values of our European ‘common home’”.
